VCD NEWS :: AIGA
THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF GRAPHIC ARTS (AIGA)'s PURPOSE IS TO ADVANCE DESIGNING AS A PROFESSIONAL CRAFT, STRATEGIC TOOL AND VITAL CULTURAL FORCE. AIGA IS A PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION COMMITTED TO STIMULATING THINKING ABOUT DESIGN THROUGH THE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS AND INFORMATION. THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF CRITICAL ANALYSIS AND RESEARCH AND THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION AND ETHICAL PRACTICE.
AIGA is a national organization. Students may be members for an annual fee of $75. Some of the benefits include discounts to speakers and events, occasional free books and mailers, and an AIGA online account and profile. The networking opportunities are endless. Students may be members of the Kent State chapter free of charge. We encourage students in all levels of the VCD program to participate. Many eboard positions are available. The KSU AIGA has been very active for the past few years. Events include alumni and national speakers, outings and tours of local printers and advertising firms, professional development workshops, presentations to high school art classes and freshman VCD classes, an annual portfolio show/meet and greet, and other social events and fundraisers. Kent State's AIGA chapter has annually provided coffee and doughnuts to the sophomore students on the morning of their Sophomore Review as well as donated $200 to the Senior Portfolio Show.

Ink Cartridge and Cell Phone Collection
AIGA is collecting ink cartridges and cell phones. Collection zone is located on the second floor, across from the VCD advisor’s office (218F)
